Our Story

The PMU Story

PMU was founded to fill a gap in the Philippine beauty education market. Aspiring and working beauty professionals had two choices: a weekend workshop that handed out a certificate after a few hours, or a full cosmetology degree that demanded years of investment before any real income. There was no structured middle path — practical, sequenced training taught by working artists.

PMU is that middle path. Our programs are designed and taught by active industry professionals who currently take clients. Students learn in cohorts small enough for real feedback, on a curriculum explicit enough to measure progress, and graduate with a verifiable certificate and post-training support that continues after the program ends.

Educational Philosophy

PMU believes that professional beauty education must be practical before it is theoretical. Students learn best by doing — under proper supervision, with clear guidance, working toward observable outcomes.

Theory without hands-on practice does not produce working beauty professionals. Practice without proper theory produces unsafe practitioners. PMU combines both in a structured sequence designed to build real, lasting competence.

Aileen Cabuhat

Founder & Lead Educator — PMU Philippines Makeup University

Aileen founded PMU after years working across editorial, bridal, and professional makeup artistry. She saw talented Filipino beauty students graduate from short workshops unprepared for working client life, and chose to build the structured training program she wished she had at the start of her own career. Her teaching philosophy is straightforward: foundations first, technique second, confidence built through real supervised practice.
